Walk Talk Bake. A walking tour through East London, charting the history of Rinkoff bakery.

Walk Talk Bake is a walking tour of East London, that takes you through Bishopsgate, Spitalfields and Whitechapel and ends at Rinkoff bakery in Stepney Green.

In 2 hours, you will learn the history of the Rinkoff bakery and the journey the Ukrainian founders, Hyman and Fanny took when they established their shop in Old Montague Street, E1 in 1911.

The tour will take in the social history of the diverse East End and tell the story of how the Rinkoff bakery expanded – bringing you right up to date with the now 5 generations of Rinkoff’s currently working.

Walk Talk Bake weaves through the most infamous areas including Bishopsgate, Spitalfields and Whitechapel.

You will walk in the footsteps of the Krays and hear how the yiddish community established itself.

Hi I’m Esther

I’m Esther Rinkoff and I started Walk Talk Bake in 2019.

I am extremely proud to say I am a Rinkoff. My husband Ray has worked in Rinkoff bakery for 55 years.

On this walking tour I will tell you the amazing history of the bakery alongside facts relating to the social history of this fascinating area.

Who are Rinkoff bakery?

Rinkoff bakery is a 5 generation family run business. The bakery was established in 1911 by Hyman Rinkoff, who came to London from Kiev with a passion for baking and a determination to establish himself here as a master baker.

Rinkoff’s have been producing speciality bread, cakes and rolls for over 100 years! This includes traditional challah, sourdoughs, exceptional danish pastries and now our famous Crodoughs.

When we arrive at the bakery, you are almost always guaranteed to meet a member of the family.

And at the end of the tour we will stop here for a delicious bagel lunch.

Don’t worry. Esther is not a fair weather walker and will do the walking tour in rain, snow and all weathers.
